Description

These juicy and flavorful turkey burgers are a healthy and delicious alternative to traditional beef burgers. Made with ground turkey, Parmesan cheese, and a blend of herbs and spices, they are perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a weekend BBQ. Serve with your favorite toppings and buns for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Turkey Burger Mixture

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Cooking

  • Olive oil, for cooking
  • 4 burger buns

Optional Toppings

  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Avocado
  • Cheese
  • Pickles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Turkey Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon just until all ingredients are incorporated, being careful not to overmix, which can make the burgers tough.
  2. Shape the Patties: Divide the turkey mixture evenly into 4 portions. Shape each portion into a patty slightly larger than your burger buns to account for shrinkage during cooking. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  3. Cook the Burgers: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of olive oil to coat the pan. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the patties are golden brown on both sides.
  4. Assemble the Burgers: Toast the burger buns if desired. Place the cooked turkey patties on the bottom half of each bun and add your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato slices, avocado, cheese, or pickles. Top with the bun halves.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the turkey burgers immediately with side dishes such as sweet potato fries, a fresh salad, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the turkey mixture to avoid tough burgers.
  • Using a meat thermometer ensures burgers are safely cooked without drying out.
  • Adding Parmesan cheese adds moisture and flavor to the patties.
  • You can customize the burger toppings to suit your taste preferences.
  • Leftover turkey burgers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
