Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound shaped pasta
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 pint heavy whipping cream
- 2 ½ cups milk
- 2 ½ cups fresh broccoli florets
- 8 ounces American cheese, cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Place the pasta, sliced smoked sausage, chicken broth, heavy whipping cream, and milk into a large pot.
- Cook Pasta: Turn the heat to medium and simmer the mixture. Stir occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom. Continue cooking until the pasta is tender, about 10 minutes.
- Add Broccoli and Cheese: Stir in the fresh broccoli florets and both the cubed American cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the broccoli is tender but still vibrant.
- Serve: Remove from heat and serve the cheesy smoked sausage and broccoli pasta hot for a satisfying meal.
Notes
- Stir occasionally while cooking the pasta to prevent sticking.
- You can substitute smoked sausage with kielbasa or another smoked sausage variety of your choice.
- For a lower fat version, use low-fat milk and cream or substitute with half-and-half.
- Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- Feel free to swap broccoli with other vegetables like spinach or peas.
