Description
Momma’s Easy No Yeast Dinner Rolls are soft, tender, and quick to make. These fluffy rolls come together without the hassle of yeast or rising time, perfect for a last-minute dinner bread that pairs well with any meal. Using baking powder as a leavening agent, these rolls bake up golden brown with a slightly sweet hint, especially if you add the optional honey or maple syrup.
Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Wet Ingredients
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten
- Optional: 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (for a touch of sweetness)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent the rolls from sticking.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until thoroughly combined. This ensures even distribution of the leavening agent.
- Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted unsalted butter, and the beaten egg. If you want a sweeter roll, stir in the optional honey or maple syrup at this stage.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir with a spoon or spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps in the dough are fine and will yield softer rolls.
- Form the Rolls: Scoop out spoonfuls of dough, approximately 1-2 tablespoons each, and roll them into small balls. Arrange the dough balls close together in the prepared baking dish, which helps them rise upwards and stay soft on the sides.
- Bake the Rolls: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. The rolls are done when the tops turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. For extra flavor and shine, optionally brush the tops with a little melted butter while still warm.
Notes
- Do not overmix the dough to keep your rolls light and tender.
- You can substitute milk with any dairy-free alternative for a different flavor.
- These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- Reheat briefly in the oven or microwave for a warm, soft texture before serving.
- You can double the recipe to make a larger batch.
