Ingredients
Scale
For the Meatball Sub Bites
- 1 (8-ounce) sheet of crescent roll dough
- ½ cup marinara sauce, divided
- ½ cup vegan mozzarella shreds, divided
- 12 premade vegan meatballs, thawed
- Fresh minced basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the Meatball Sub Bites.
- Prepare Crescent Roll Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 12 equal squares by making three rows and four columns. Lightly grease a cupcake tin and press each dough square into a cupcake cup, forming little dough cups.
- Assemble Meatball Sub Bites: Spoon 2 teaspoons of marinara sauce into each dough cup, then sprinkle 2 teaspoons of vegan mozzarella shreds on top. Place one thawed vegan meatball into each dough cup, and then top each with additional vegan mozzarella and marinara sauce for extra flavor.
- Bake: Place the cupcake tin in the preheated oven. Bake the bites for 10-13 minutes or until the crescent dough is light golden brown and the vegan cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove the tin from the oven and let the bites cool for about 5 minutes. Garnish with freshly minced basil. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Make sure to lightly flour your surface before rolling out the crescent dough to prevent sticking.
- Use premade vegan meatballs for convenience, or substitute with homemade vegan meatballs if preferred.
- These Meatball Sub Bites are best served fresh but can be reheated in a toaster oven or conventional oven to retain crispness.
- Feel free to add more or less marinara sauce depending on your taste preference.
- If you want to make this recipe gluten-free, substitute the crescent dough with a gluten-free dough alternative.
