Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups brown rice
- 2 pounds lean ground chicken
- 2 cups spinach, chopped
- 1 large carrot, shredded (about 1 cup)
- 1 small zucchini, shredded (about 1 cup)
- 4 cups water (for cooking rice)
Instructions
- Cook the rice: In a large pot or saucepan, combine 4 cups of water and brown rice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer (medium low to low heat) and cover the pot. Cook the rice for about 45 minutes or until the rice is completely soft and all the water is absorbed.
- Cook the ground chicken: While the rice cooks, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground chicken and cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Sauté the vegetables: Add the chopped spinach, shredded carrot, and shredded zucchini to the skillet with the cooked chicken. Continue cooking for 3-4 minutes until the spinach wilts and the vegetables soften.
- Combine ingredients: Remove the chicken and vegetable mixture from heat and set aside to cool. Once the rice has finished cooking, stir the rice and ground chicken-vegetable mixture together thoroughly.
- Cool and serve: Allow the combined dog food to cool completely before serving it to your dog or storing it for later use to ensure safety and optimum digestion.
