Description

These Homemade Dill Pickle Gummy Worms offer a fun and tangy twist on traditional gummy candies, combining the briny flavor of dill pickles with a chewy gelatin texture. Perfect as a unique snack or party treat, they’re easy to make and can be customized with optional sweetness and coloring.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup dill pickle juice (strained, no solids)
  • 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup (optional, for slight sweetness)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional for extra pickle flavor)
  • Food coloring (green, optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom the Gelatin: In a small saucepan, pour the dill pickle juice and sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the surface. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to absorb the liquid and soften.
  2. Dissolve the Gelatin: Place the saucepan over low heat and stir constantly until the gelatin completely dissolves into the juice. Be careful not to boil the mixture to preserve the gelatin’s gelling properties.
  3. Add Flavorings: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the honey or agave syrup, apple cider vinegar, and garlic powder if using, to enhance the tangy and savory flavors.
  4. Add Food Coloring: If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring to mimic the classic pickle color and mix thoroughly to distribute evenly.
  5. Pour into Molds: Pour the prepared mixture into gummy worm molds or a shallow pan if you prefer to cut the gummy worms into strips later.
  6. Chill to Set: Refrigerate the molds or pan for at least 2 hours, or until the gummies are firm and fully set.
  7. Remove and Serve: Carefully pop the gummy worms out of their molds or cut the set gelatin into worm-shaped strips if using a pan.
  8. Storage: Store the dill pickle gummy worms in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Consume within one week for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Make sure the pickle juice is fully strained and contains no solids before starting.
  • Do not boil the gelatin mixture as it can prevent it from setting properly.
  • Honey or agave syrup is optional but adds a mild sweetness to balance the tartness.
  • Food coloring is optional and can be omitted if you prefer a natural appearance.
  • Use airtight containers to keep gummies fresh and prevent them from drying out.
