Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Dumpling Patties
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/2 cup cabbage, finely chopped
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- Salt to taste
Burger Assembly
- 4 soft burger buns
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting the buns)
- 4 lettuce leaves (optional)
- Sliced tomato (optional)
Dipping Sauce (Optional)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp honey (optional for sweetness)
- 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional for heat)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken dumpling filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped cabbage, green onions, grated ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
- Form the burger patties: Divide the chicken mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, roughly the size of your burger buns. Press the edges slightly to ensure the patty holds its shape.
- Cook the patties: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with a little oil or non-stick spray. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), ensuring they are cooked through.
- Toast the buns: While the patties cook, melt the butter in a separate pan over medium heat. Cut the burger buns in half and toast them in the pan for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Set aside.
- Assemble the burgers: Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun (optional), then add a chicken dumpling patty. Top with sliced tomato (optional) and the top half of the bun.
- Make the dipping sauce (optional): In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey (if using), and chili flakes (if desired) for a flavorful condiment.
- Serve: Serve the Chicken Dumpling Burgers immediately with the dipping sauce on the side for added flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the chicken patties are cooked thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
- Optional lettuce and tomato add fresh crunch and moisture but can be omitted for a simpler burger.
- The dipping sauce is optional but adds a nice tangy and slightly spicy contrast to the savory chicken patties.
- You can substitute ground turkey or pork for ground chicken if desired.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free soy sauce and buns.
