Description

A festive and crunchy treat perfect for the holiday season, Candied Puff Corn (Christmas Crack) features buttery puff corn coated in sweet vanilla candy coating and topped with colorful sprinkles. This easy no-bake recipe is great for gift-giving or party snacking and comes together quickly with just a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 (3.25-ounce) bags butter flavored puff corn (such as Chester’s Puffcorn)
  • 1 (16-ounce) box vanilla flavored candy coating
  • Sprinkles, for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Puff Corn: Add both bags of butter flavored puff corn to a very large pan or mixing bowl, ensuring there is enough room to mix thoroughly without crushing the puff corn.
  2. Melt Candy Coating: Following the package instructions, melt the vanilla flavored candy coating in the microwave until smooth and pourable, usually by heating in short intervals and stirring in between.
  3. Coat Puff Corn: Drizzle the melted candy coating over the puff corn. Quickly use a spatula or large spoon to gently stir and coat all the puff corn pieces evenly to avoid clumping.
  4. Spread and Decorate: Spread the coated puff corn out onto two large sheets of wax paper laid on the counter in a single even layer. Sprinkle colorful sprinkles evenly over the top if desired for a festive touch.
  5. Cool and Set: Allow the mixture to cool completely and set at room temperature until the candy coating hardens, about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Store: Once set, break apart any large clusters and transfer the candied puff corn to an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to one week.

Notes

  • Use a very large bowl to mix to prevent crushing the delicate puff corn.
  • Work quickly when coating the puff corn before the candy coating hardens.
  • If the candy coating becomes too thick to pour, warm it briefly again in the microwave.
  • Customize by using different colored sprinkles or mixing in nuts or small candies.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain crispness and freshness.
