Description

Apple Pie Quesadillas are a delightful fusion of classic apple pie flavors wrapped in crispy flour tortillas. Featuring sautéed cinnamon-spiced apples and melted cheddar cheese, these quesadillas offer a warm, sweet, and savory treat perfect for dessert or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Quesadilla Base

  • 4 large flour tortillas

Apple Filling

  • 2 apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced apples with cinnamon and sugar until the slices are evenly coated with the spices and sweetness.
  2. Cook the Apples: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the cinnamon-sugar-coated apples to the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples soften slightly and release a fragrant aroma.
  3. Assemble the Quesadillas: Place one flour tortilla flat in the skillet. Evenly layer the cooked apples over the tortilla and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  4. Cook the Quesadilla: Place a second tortilla on top of the apple and cheese layer. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until the bottom tortilla turns golden brown and crisp. Carefully flip the quesadilla and cook the other side until it is also golden brown and the cheese inside has fully melted.
  5. Repeat: Remove the cooked quesadilla and repeat the assembly and cooking process with the remaining tortillas, apples, butter, and cheese portions.
  6. Serve: Once all quesadillas are cooked, slice them into wedges. Serve warm for the best flavor and enjoy this comforting, sweet-savory treat.

Notes

  • Use crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best texture and flavor.
  • Adjust the sugar amount depending on the sweetness of your apples and personal preference.
  • Butter in the skillet ensures a crispy, golden exterior; do not skip it.
  • For a richer flavor, try adding a pinch of nutmeg or a drizzle of honey to the apple mixture.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with mozzarella or a mild cheese if preferred.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for a decadent dessert variation.
